Department of Mathematics celebrated World Mathematics Day-2017 on 20/02/2017 in a successful manner under the auspices of SankaraGanitha Sastra Parishad . On the eve of this celebration, various competitions which include Power point presentation, Elocution, Dumb Charades, Short Film, Quiz, Modelling and painting were conducted during September-October and talented students were identified.

The programme started with prayer song. Dr. K. Srinivasa Rao, Head, Department of Mathematics, welcomed the gathering. Later, Mrs.K.Pramila, Assistant Professor of Mathematics introduced the chief guest, Dr.K.Rajendran, Associate Professor, Department of General Engineering and Basic Sciences, Sri Vidyaniketan Engineering College, Tirupathi. Maiden issue of the magazine “The Amazing World of Math” was released by all the dignitaries. Followed this, Dr.T.Venugopal, Dean (Faculty of Arts and Humanities), Director, Research and Publications, felicitated the gathering. A special lecture on “ Sharpen the Intellect” was delivered by the chief guest. Finally, winners of the Mathematics day competitions, toppers in the semester examination and students who secured 100% attendance were awarded with prize and certificate. The programme came to an end with the vote of thanks by Ms.K.Indhumathi, I M.Sc., (Mathematics).
